As some of my most recent posts have revealed, I am very homesick for Denver. One of the many aspects I loved about living in the city was that at any moment you could hop in the car and drive to an incredible destination.
We often made the short drive to Boulder, a city nestled against the Flatirons along the east slope of Green Mountain. In the winter my family would check into a hotel, enjoy a spa day and finish the day with a cocktail and dinner. In the summer, we took my daughter hiking in Chautauqua Park and a walk along the Pearl Street Mall followed a long, leisurely lunch.
Here are a few of my favorite places in Boulder:
St. Julien Hotel & Spa – Located in the heart of Boulder, the St. Julien offers views of the Flatirons and is a short walk away from historic Pearl Street.
Pizzeria Locale – Neopolitan style pizza. The best I have ever had! Fantastic wine list.
Frasca Food and Wine – The menu is an homage to the cuisine from the Frascas of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. The ingredients are seasonal and fresh; many cultivated on local Colorado farms. The inspired menu features dishes like a “crudo” of blackgill rockfish, yellowtail, fennel, tarragon and citron vinegar; a “cappellacci” of sweet potato, hazelnut, prosciutto and apple mostarda; and, Ingrid’s diver scallop, porcini, napa cabbage, praline and Yukon potato.
