I love Vail anytime of the year, especially during the winter. The snow filled mountains, the sound of the gondolas and lifts whisking skiers and boarders into the sky, afternoons of après ski with friends and cozy dinners.
Here are a few of my favorite spots at this magical mountain getaway.
The Arrabelle: Nestled in picturesque Lionshead and steps away from the Eagle Bahn, the service at this Rock Resort is impeccable and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. Its après-ski deck is also one of the best in Vail.
Mountain Standard: The sister restaurant to another local favorite Sweet Basil, Mountain Standard features modern American cuisine in a quaint tavern setting alongside Gore Creek. My personal favorites on the menu include the coal roasted olives, charred baby octopus, king salmon and Colorado leg of lamb.
Matsuhisa: Located in the Solaris complex, this masterpiece from the renowned Nobu Matsuhisa features fusion cuisine that blends traditional Japanese with Peruvian and Argentine ingredients.
Los Amigos: Located in front of Gondola “One”, I love Los Amigos for the après-ski deck and margaritas. Enough said!
Gorsuch: Founded by US Olympic skiers Renie and David Gorsuch, there are seven Gorsuch store locations, including one in Vail Village. The store features luxury ski gear, apparel, accessories, home décor and serves as an equipment outfitter.
The Golden Bear: A boutique situated in Vail Village that features of range of fine jewelry, giftware and home accessories featuring the Golden Bear – considered the symbol of Vail Valley by locals and visitors. The jewelry is handcrafted by a team of skilled metalsmiths from precious metals and stones and available in a wide range of styles – from pendants to rings and bracelets to earrings.
